Anecoop has joined the United Nations Global Compact as a partner, which shows a higher level of commitment in their participation within the organization. This was announced by Anecoop at the latest edition of Fruit Attraction, held on October 5-7 in Madrid.

According to the President of Anecoop, Alejandro Monzón, for Anecoop it is a logical and necessary step in its CSR, since their commitment in this matter is absolute. As a sector and as a cooperative, they carry sustainability as standard. At present, all the entities that make up the value chain are aware that, to remain in time, they have to work at all stages of the process implementing ethical and responsible measures with respect to people, the environment and economic development.

Adhering to the Global Compact means that Anecoop is committed to aligning its operations with 10 principles in the areas of labor standards, human rights, the environment and the fight against corruption; and take action in support of the United Nations goals currently embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Joan Mir, general director of Anecoop, commented that they are participating in different projects whose objectives are aligned with the requirements of the United Nations and the different Administrations in the 2030 horizon. They work on the promotion and implementation of increasingly efficient production systems and have a low impact on the environment, have their only quality system, naturane, which ensures good practices from seed to shipment, promotes the reduction of water consumption and the use of renewable energy, participates in initiatives focused on management common land to avoid abandonment.

The United Nations Global Compact was created in 2000 and is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative.

Currently, there are 18.689 entities from 160 countries, of which 2061 are related to the Spanish Network, which makes it the most important Local Network in the world by number of adhesions as well as by numerous progress and sustainability reports submitted.

In this way, Anecoop has taken a step towards its CSR policy by joining various companies around the globe with the commitment to carry out responsible business and corporate actions.
